BIOGRAPHY
Partner Robert (Rob) Steinberg heads our CBAS Estates, Civil Practice and Real Estate Departments. He is a seasoned trial attorney with extensive experience in the fields of wills, estates and trusts, residential and commercial real estate, landlord and tenant law, appellate law, and many civil and commercial matters.
During his over thirty years of practicing law, Rob has assisted thousands of clients with their estate planning and represented many families in administrating the estates of loved ones. He has also represented our clients and those of other personal injury attorneys in wrongful death compromise proceedings and represented estate and trust beneficiaries in accounting proceedings challenging the acts of fiduciaries charged with administrating an estate or trust.
Rob has been appointed court evaluator and court-appointed counsel in many guardianship proceedings under the Mental Hygiene Law. He has also been appointed as a guardian ad litem to protect the interests of minors, incapacitated persons, and unknown persons in various estate and guardianship proceedings in the Surrogate’s Courts of Suffolk and Nassau County.
Rob is a skilled appellate practice attorney who has successfully argued many appeals in personal injury, estate, commercial, civil, and election law matters. In addition to representing CBAS clients, he has also acted as appellate counsel for other New York lawyers and law firms on matters involving their clients.
As part of his real estate practice, Rob has represented CBAS clients in the purchase, sale and leasing of residential and commercial real estate. He also represents many commercial and residential landlords in eviction proceedings.
Rob has appeared as a guest on the “From No Fault of Your Own” LI News Radio program hosted by partner Kenneth Auerbach. He has discussed issues arising from the death or incapacity of personal injury clients.
Rob has been a member of the New York State bar since 1989. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 1984 and a Juris Doctor degree from Hofstra University in 1988. Rob is also admitted to practice law before the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
